AdReady Tip of the Month (March-10): Test Google Keywords with three campaigns

When testing Google Keywords campaigns, many advertisers choose mostly general keywords related to their product or service. For example, if you run a cosmetic surgery clinic, you might include keywords such as “cosmetic surgery” and “facelift.” A better way to improve overall performance is by creating three separate Google Keyword campaigns with separate keyword sets.

We’ve found that you can optimize your overall ad spend more effectively by testing one set of general keywords (like the ones described above), one set of branded keywords (such as the name of your product, company, URL, etc.), and one set of competitor keywords (like your branded keywords, but for one or more competitors). That way, you’ll get your ads on Web sites with content related to both your products and your competitors’. You can then run the campaigns, rinse, and repeat to compare these “buckets” of keywords side-by-side and determine the best performer.

If you’re an AdReady Premium customer, you’ll receive expert help to get even more out of this technique.
